Aircel is planning to 3G services in 13 circles including Chennai, Karnataka, Kerala and Punjab by mid-March 2011 as revealed in a press event in Bangalore 25^th February.

I could do this speed test. This test was taken in Chennai. To activate 3G on Aircel you have send an sms START 3G to 121

You have to create a new APN / Accesspoint – aircelgprs.pr in order to get the connection working on a prepaid sim card.

The 3G coverage seems pretty spotty and not fully ready yet. The connection kept switching from HSPA to EDGE many times. I managed to get about 1.8 Mbps or 1870 kbps in terms of download speed. The upload speeds never crossed 300 kbps.

The company originally planned to launch 3G services during the Cricket World Cup 2011 and it looks like they are going to keep up their promise. We would be sharing the details about the tariffs and plans while we confirm the same. I gave it Below … Check it out and Choose Whats ur favorite Plan …
